Emergency stop buttons: know their locations before operation

18-second workshop video · Emergency stop locations on the operator panel, side panels and discharge conveyor. English location captions are available in the player.

Safe operation starts with knowing the machine and its controls. Xunding equips the machine shown here with emergency stop buttons at several positions. This short workshop video takes you from the operator panel along the machine enclosure to the discharge conveyor, showing where the red mushroom-head buttons are located.

Where the emergency stop buttons are located

At the operator panel, the large red button labelled EMERGENCY STOP sits above the green START and smaller red STOP buttons. The video then shows additional emergency stop buttons on side panels beside the enclosure and another control position at the discharge conveyor.

These views help operators identify the controls around this particular machine. The number, position and equipment controlled by each button depend on the model and configuration. Confirm these details for the machine supplied to your site, especially when it connects to other equipment.

Emergency stop and normal stop are different controls

The panel shows a mushroom-head EMERGENCY STOP separately from the smaller STOP button. Identify each control by its label and function, rather than by colour alone. The emergency stop is intended for an emergency; routine stopping follows the normal operating procedure in the machine manual.

Before production, operator training should cover every emergency stop location and its function. Keep access to the controls clear, and ask the commissioning team to demonstrate the emergency stop and restart sequence for the supplied machine.

Check the cause before restarting

After an emergency stop, the cause must be assessed and the working area made safe before restarting. Trained, authorised personnel should follow the machine manual and the site procedure for checking the equipment and resetting the control.

Resetting an emergency stop must not itself restart the machinery. Restart requires a separate deliberate action using the normal operating controls after the required safety checks. Confirm the exact reset method and restart sequence during commissioning.

Emergency stop is not energy isolation

An emergency stop does not replace guards, operator training or a safe system of work. Before clearing a blockage, cleaning, adjusting or maintaining the machine, follow the prescribed isolation and lock-off procedure for the relevant energy sources, including electrical and pneumatic supplies where present.

When discussing your order, ask for the control layout, operating instructions and emergency stop checks to be included in the equipment review. For an installed machine, send Jason Chen its model reference and clear photographs of the control position you want to discuss.
